In 2016, BCBSIL discontinued all metallic ACA level health plans in the large PPO Network and smaller Choice Network and created the Blue Choice Preferred PPO Network. The Blue Choice Preferred PPO Network will be similar to the Choice network but has been expanded statewide and includes additional hospitals and doctors.

Key Hospitals not accepting the Blue Choice Preferred PPO Plans in 2023:

• Northshore Hospital Systems (BluePrecision HMO Plans accepted)
• Rush Hospital Systems
• University of Chicago

To see if your doctors will be participating in this plan, you can look them up using the BCBSIL Provider Finder.

Because of network limitations, the BlueChoice Preferred PPO plans are not appropriate for all Illinois residents. These products are basically for residents of Illinois metropolitan areas, including Chicago, Rockford and Springfield. To find out if your physician or hospital is in the BlueChoice Preferred network, use the Provider Finder and call your provider’s office.
