Unicare - PPO Networks
UniCare has a strong and extensive PPO network in Illinois that gives members sizable discounts in their health care when they see an in-network physician or hospital due to the in-network negotiated rates. Out-of-network benefits are typically covered at 60% so it is beneficial to see in-nework physician whenever possible.
UniCare Illinois customers can utilize providers in the UniCare Classic Network or in the HealthLink network (mostly downstate providers), both of which are owned by UniCare. With affiliated PPO providers covering most of the USA, UniCare offers a national network of providers when traveling outside of Illinois, which is accessible through the UniCare online PPO directory.
Travel Access Program - out-of-state coverage
Unicare's Travel Access Program provides assistance in finding hospitals and physicians participating in the Unicare-affiliated networks when traveling away from home. UniCare Travel Access representative will provide you with the name, address and phone number of an independently contracted network health care provider (or providers) in closest proximity. Travel Access representatives are available 7 days week by calling the phone number listed on every member's Unicare ID card. Travel Access is an important consideration because UniCare plans strongly emphasize utilization of PPO health care providers because UniCare non-network benefits tend to be very limited.
